Press briefing with Mr.Hadi al-Bahra, President of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces – Monday, September 22, 2014

The U.N. Correspondents Association held a press briefing with Mr.Hadi al-Bahra, President of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces (Syrian Coalition), on Tuesday, September 22, 2014 in the U.N.C.A. Meeting Room.

Mr. al-Bahra led a delegation in the 69th Session of the U.N. General Assembly to raise the need for a comprehensive international effort to tackle the causes and consequences of the crisis in Syria.

The delegation included:
President Hadi al-Bahra
Vice-President Abdulhakeem Bachar (Head of the Kurdish National Council)
Dr. Najib Ghadbian, Special Representative of the Coalition to the U.S.
Dr. Bader Jamous (former Sec Gen, currently member of the Political Committee)
Mr. Anas al-Abdah (member of the Political Committee)
Ms. Alia Mansour (Coalition representative to Beirut and member of the Political Committee)
Dr. Khaled Khoja (Coalition representative to Istanbul)

 

Mr. al-Bahra’s bio:

Prior to becoming President, Mr. Hadi al Bahra was the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s Chief Negotiator in Geneva, Secretary of the Coalition’s Political Committee, and adviser to former Syrian Coalition President Ahmad al-Jarba. Bahra was born in 1959 in the Syrian capital Damascus and subsequently received his bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University in Kansas. Bahra has used his experience in communication to serve the Syrian revolution from the start by co-founding groups for bolstering and coordinating communications between activists inside Syria and media outlets. He has also actively supported the opposition’s relief work in Syria.
