Announcing the 2026 UNCA Awards (call for submissions)

The United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA) invites media worldwide to submit entries for its 29th annual UNCA Awards for best print, broadcast (TV & radio) and online, web-based media coverage of the United Nations, UN agencies and field operations.

Milestones in Journalism Excellence

1948

UNCA founded as a professional organization representing international correspondents reporting on global affairs.

1955

Official agreement established with the United Nations Secretary General, formalizing our role in global journalism.

1990

First comprehensive awards ceremony recognizing outstanding international reporting across multiple categories.

2000

Epanded awards to include digital and multimedia journalism, reflecting the evolving media landscape.

2010

Introduced special recognition for correspondents reporting from conflict zones and challenging environments.

2020

Virtual awards ceremony launched, adapting to global pandemic while continuing to celebrate journalistic achievement.

UNCA Video Highlights

Held on June 9, 2026

The discussion will offer an opportunity to hear directly from senior UNFPA officials working in two of the world’s largest, most complex and under-reported humanitarian crises.

The conversation will focus on the human impact of these protracted crises, particularly for women and girls; the growing pressure on maternal health, reproductive health and protection services; and what is at stake as humanitarian needs continue to rise while resources decline.

2025 UNCA AWARD Winners

The United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA) held a press conference with Human Rights Watch and B’Tselem on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

At the briefing, Yuli Novak, Executive Director of B’Tselem, and Kareem Jubran, Field Research Director, briefed journalists on their work in the Gaza Strip, including the findings of their July 2025 report, “Our Genocide,” their follow-up advocacy efforts, and the latest developments.

About B’Tselem:
B’Tselem is an Israeli human rights organization that works to oppose Israel’s occupation and apartheid regime through documentation, research, and advocacy on the human rights violations inherent in this system. For over 35 years, it has documented the harm caused to Palestinians and exposed Israel’s systematic violations of their rights, guided by the duty to protect human life, dignity, and freedom.

Held on July 28th 2025

Following the high-level United Nations conference on renewing global efforts toward a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, the United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA) hosted a press briefing with three members of The Elders who had participated in the conference.

- Juan Manuel Santos, former President of Colombia and Nobel Peace Laureate

- Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein, former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

All participants were in New York for the ministerial meeting on the two-state solution.
